This year the 16th Annual MEITAL conference on Teaching and Learning Technologies Accelerating Higher Education: Trends and Developments, was held on the Hebrew University of Jerusalem campus.
The conference opened with greetings from MEITAL Chairman Prof. Aharon Palmon and Prof. Haim Taitelbaum, the Chairman of IUCC who challenged the audience with the question of how to raise awareness and help educators take a proactive approach to adopting and implementing learning technologies in educational processes in higher education.
The keynote address on “At the Intersection of Technology and Educational Practices” by Dr. Teresa Cerratto Pargman from Stockholm University. Afterwards, a plenary session by Mark Lester, Director of Partnership for FutureLearn, offered enlightening insights on successes and challenges in MOOC development and delivery. The final plenary by Dr. Eyal Doron, offered a lively presentation on Models for Creative thinking in a Digital World.
Between the plenary sessions, a multiple track program that offered something for everyone, including applications, research tracks and a poster exhibition. Before, during and after the plenary sessions and panels, the crowd gathered in the demo area where corporate sponsors displayed the latest learning technologies for academia and for the public.
Over 300 participants from 40 educational institutions participated in the conference. The program encompassed 11 sessions with a total of over 50 lectures.
